Speaker bio: Captain Amanda Perry was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, when her father was stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82d Airborne Division. She and her younger brother, Tyler, grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for her undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. After completing her undergraduate program, she went on to earn a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Duquesne University in 2012 and 2014, respectively. She attended Duquesne University School of Law. During law school she earned a summer internship with the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lawrence County and a year-long externship with the Public Defender’s Office of Lawrence County. Prior to graduating from law school, she earned an internship with the US Navy and spent the summer in the SJA office at Naval Air Station Pensacola. She was also a member of the Trial Advocacy Competition Team, a Senior Staff Writer on Duquesne Law Review, Student Bar Association President, a Student Lawyer with the Veterans Court Clinical Program, and completed over 200 pro bono hours prior to graduation. She joined the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 2019 and is assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps as a member of the Military Justice office.
