Speaker bio: Darren Allen earned his J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2005. During his legal career, he has worked both in private practice and in the public sector. Mr. Allen “lives in the courtroom,” in his own words. He has tried hundreds of cases and dozens of jury trials on matters ranging from impaired driving to first degree murder.  Mock trial is Mr. Allen’s one great passion. He has coached every year since graduating law school. For five years, he served at Asheboro High School alongside Steve Schmidly, the winningest coach in North Carolina high school mock trial history. Since 2011, Mr. Allen has coached the Central Carolina Homeschoolers. Since their inception, CCH has represented North Carolina at the NHSMTC seven times, won the state championship six times, and finished in the top ten nationally five times. Mr. Allen’s CCH program is the only team in the country to have both received the Larry Bakko Award for Professionalism and Civility (2019) and won a National Championship (2017).
