CCCE conducts new Outreach Project!

Posted: September 10, 2012

Recognizing that establishing a new mock trial program can seem like a daunting task, the CCCE is embarking on a new Outreach Project to give new schools the support they need to be successful. We have completely revised and expanded our Teacher Resource Manual (available at https://www.ncmocktrial.org/resources/training-materials) to give teachers possible strategies on every aspect of preparing students for competition. We also provided on-site training sessions in the fall at several locations across the state, particularly focusing on regions where participation rates have been low for the last few years. Training sessions were held in Lumberton, Greenville, Wilson, Durham, Salisbury, Wake Forest, and Asheville. In addition, one session in Chapel Hill was videotaped and posted on our website (same link as above) so that schools across the state could benefit from the information. Finally, with sufficient sponsorship support, we are finalizing plans for low-cost summer camps at two locations across the state in 2013; stay tuned for more details coming soon!

We are very grateful that LAWYERS MUTUAL LIABILITY INSURANCE COMPANY OF NC , NORTH CAROLINA LAWYERS WEEKLY, and the MARY DUKE BIDDLE FOUNDATION have partnered with us in helping to fund this outreach. Yet additional sponsors are needed in order to fully implement the summer camp program. If you would like to join with us in making sure that all students in North Carolina can reap the benefits of the mock trial program, please contact Program Coordinator Sue Johnson at SueHeathJohnson@gmail.com for more information.
