The CCCE is proud to announce a stellar line-up of instructors for our three-day mock trial camp in Chapel Hill, NC.
S. Quon Bridges, Esq.: Currently engaged in the private practice of law, Mr. Bridges has also served as Assistant District Attorney and as a District Court Judge for the 9th Judicial District. He gives of his time to numerous local organizations, including Teen Court and the NCAJ mock trial program.
Wake County ADA Phillip Cowan: As an Assistant District Attorney in Wake County, Mr. Cowan has tried hundreds of cases in district court and over 40 jury trials in superior court. He also served as attorney advisor for the 2011 N.C. state champion mock trial team.
Scott Eren, Esq.: A criminal defense attorney trying cases all over central N.C., Mr. Eren also coaches the Duke Collegiate Mock Trial team. He participated in mock trial throughout college and law school, earning awards for Advocacy and for Law School Moot Court.
Rep. Rick Glazier, Esq.: Elected six times to the N.C. General Assembly, Rep. Glazier focuses many of his efforts on strengthening the educational system in North Carolina. He also teaches pre-trial law at Campbell Law School and is a perennial judge at NCAJ mock trial competitions.
Carlos Mahoney, Esq.: Practicing civil litigation in Durham, Mr. Mahoney is an active participant with many legal associations, including the American Board of Trial Advocates, ACLU, and NCAJ. He has been involved in writing/editing several NC mock trial cases and often judges our competitions.
Andre McDavid, Esq.: Practicing criminal defense and civil litigation in the Raleigh area, Mr. McDavid enjoys educating youth and judging mock trial at all levels, from high school to law school competitions.
Charli Morris, M.A.: Holding a Master’s degree in Litigation Science, author and litigation consultant Charlotte “Charli” Morris assists plaintiff and defense attorneys in civil and criminal litigation. Also, she frequently serves on the faculty of trial advocacy colleges.
Fran Muse, Esq.: Former attorney advisor for the Jordan High School mock trial team (2012 state runner-up), Ms. Muse is engaged in a private law practice in Durham County. She has also served as an Assistant Public Defender and as an Associate with NCSU Student Legal Services.
Chris Nichols, Esq.: As a civil trial attorney representing plaintiffs and a frequent lecturer on trial skills and personal injury law, Mr. Nichols has litigated cases in about half of NC’s 100 counties. He coached high school mock trial teams for many years and is a frequent judge at our competitions.
Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway: Prior to assuming the bench as Resident Superior Court Judge of the 10th Judicial District in 2007, Judge Ridgeway was engaged in the private practice of law for 20 years. Judge Ridgeway is an advocate of the mock trial program, serving as both a team advisor in the past and a judge at competitions.
Brooke Schmidly, Esq.: As a former JAG officer, Ms. Schmidly defended 26 courts-martial cases and was rated “the best Area Defense Counsel in the Air Force in 2007.” Now serving in the US Air Force Reserve, she practices civil litigation, personal injury, and criminal defense law. She is a former advisor to the Asheboro High School mock trial team.
