Erica Oliver of Terry Sanford High School was named the N.C. Mock Trial Program’s 2025 State Champion Courtroom Artist on Saturday, March 15. Cornelia Knight of Covenant Day School Blue was the runner-up. Erica Oliver of Terry Sanford High School, Cornelia Knight of Covenant Day School Blue, Ariana Fletcher of Davie County High School, Chloe Morrell of Gaston Christian School Red, and Maryam Omer of Cary High School 2, each earned the right to compete at State Finals after winning their regional competitions on February 8th.

Courtroom artists sit in on a mock trial round and draw in colored pencil, ink, pastel, or marker. Students submit their artwork shortly after the conclusion of the mock trial round.

Ms. Oliver will now have the opportunity to represent North Carolina at the National High School Mock Trial Championship, which also sponsors a Courtroom Artist competition. The National Championship will be held in Phoenix, Arizona in May.
