Central Carolina Homeschoolers Veritas, 2025 State Finals Champions

After three preliminary rounds and a hard-fought final, over which Chief Justice Paul Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court presided, the Central Carolina Homeschoolers Veritas, coached by Darren Allen and Janet Phillips, won the 33rd annual High School Mock Trial State Championship on Saturday, March 15. Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy Thorns, coached by Jan Thrasher and Kelli Clancy, was the runner-up. Becca Bainbridge was named the Best Attorney in the Final Round, and Sydney Hunter was named Best Witness.

Twelve regional champions, as well as five courtroom artists, competed at Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law School on Friday and Saturday. In winning the competition, the Central Carolina Homeschoolers Veritas team earned the right to represent North Carolina at the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Phoenix, Arizona in May.
