Erica Oliver of Terry Sanford High School was named the N.C. Mock Trial Program’s 2024 State Champion Courtroom Artist on Saturday, March 16. Cornelia Knight of Covenant Day School was the runner-up. Both students earned the right to compete at the State Finals after winning their regional competitions on February 3.
Courtroom artists sit in on a mock trial round and draw in colored pencil, ink, pastel, or marker. Students submit their artwork shortly after the conclusion of the mock trial round.
Ms. Oliver will now have the opportunity to represent North Carolina at the National High School Mock Trial Championship, which also sponsors a Courtroom Artist competition. The National Championship will be held in Wilmington, Delaware in May.
