In prior years, North Carolina students wanting to learn about mock trial during summer vacation had to travel to expensive camps in other states. This year, as part of our Outreach Project, the CCCE was proud to announce our first-ever three-day Mock Trial Camps! The goal of the camps was to provide a fun and affordable option to help students gain a deeper understanding of our legal system through mock trial.
The CCCE offered TWO camps this summer, in Chapel Hill and Fayetteville.
The Chapel Hill Summer Mock Trial camp was held from June 27 – 29 on the campus of the University of North Carolina. Through a combination of informative presentations by experienced legal professionals and hands-on practice culminating in a final trial in an actual courtroom, students gained the knowledge and skills to “hit the ground running” when the new case is released in early September. Both Basic and Advanced sessions were offered to meet the needs of all students. Options were available for both day and overnight campers.

The Fayetteville Summer Mock Trial camp was held from July 11 – 13 on the campus of Methodist University in Fayetteville. The Fayetteville camp also included instruction by experienced legal professionals and hands-on practice sessions as students prepared for a final trial. This day camp (no overnight option) offered Basic sessions for new students and those desiring to explore new roles on their teams. It was also perfect for new mock trial team coaches and for those wanting to explore coaching in greater depth. Every participant, student and adult, received a detailed resource manual covering every aspect of mock trial.
